Vintage Maison Jansen Savonarola Steel Armchairs

An exceptional pair of Vintage Steel Savonarola Armchairs from the 1960s by Maison Jansen. The chairs are not signed, which was quite typical of that period. The woven steel seat, (please see the photo), a signature of Maison Jansen, speaks to the chairs' authenticity. Paris based, this world famous design firm has been in business since 1880. One of its most famous projects was redecorating parts of the Kennedy White House in collaboration with First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. The dimensions of these beautiful chairs: Height 35 3/4", Width 23 1/2", Depth 17", Arm Height 24", Seat Height 16", Seat depth 14 1/2". They are in excellent condition, with some slight marks of wear commensurate with age. This particular design is quite unusual. A great addition to the sophisticated home, and a rare find for the knowledgeable collector.
