    Description

    This is a delightful tea caddie. It is a bit of a mystery as to it opening. The back knob pulls back with the opposing size opening. Inside you will find a stunning lace & paper love bird appliqué. The two love birds are on top of a vase which is hand inscribed 1832 along with a family name. To the right and left of the birds are a bouquet of flowers, on one side a cluster of bloomed roses and the opposing look to me to be pansies. The background is deteriorated lace. The caddie is crafted from tin with a brass overlay. I suppose the brass can be polished if desired by the new owner. The sides feature lion heads with a mouth ring, a lock on one side and an applied floral wreath at the top. The condition issues are as follows: there is no glass in front of the bird appliqué, the top wreath is missing a bit at the bottom, tarnish and a bit of lifting at the hinge.
