    LARGE IRONSTONE PITCHER
    COXON & CO.
    Ca. LATE 1800s
    UNUSUAL: NO POURING SPOUT
THIS IS A GUARANTEED GENUINE ANTIQUE IRONSTONE PITCHER FEATURING (IVY?) LEAVES. It is marked, "IRONSTONE CHINA/COXON & CO." Charles Coxon was from a family of Staffordshire potters, and he immigrated to America. After several years working for others, he began his own business in Trenton, New Jersey in 1863. Although he died in 1868, his family continued to operate the business until it was sold. That establishes the end date for this pitcher: 1883. This pitcher stands approximately 11 inches tall and has a maximum diameter of about 7.5 inches, not including the handle. It has NO chips, cracks, or breaks, though there is spriderwebbing over it all.
