Description
US COAST GUARD AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING FRAMED PRINT, DEDICATED GIFTBlack & white pen & ink print
U. S. Coast Guard Aeronautical Engineering seal at center w/ four Coast Guard aircraft.
Black metal frame w/ gray matting
27 1/4" x 21 1/4" overall measurements. Print area is approx. 22" x 16"
The back contains several messages and signatures, inscribed to 'Admiral Barrett'. After some research, I determined that this is Admiral Edward J. Barrett. It appears that this was a gift to him at the time that he left the Aeronautical Engineering office and went to another assignment, or perhaps his retirement?
Artwork by Kevin S. Jacot, dated (c) 96 (I can't tell if the signature is printed or hand-signed, but it appears to be the same as the numbering.) Jacot produced numerous military aviation prints, and worked out of Hertford, NC, not far from Elizabeth City, where Admiral Barrett was assigned at one time.
An interesting side note, Admiral Barrett is the grandfather of famed whistle-blower Edward Snowden and former father-in-law to Lonnie Snowden, who is mentioned in one of the messages on the back.
Admiral Barrett started his Coast Guard career in Wilmington, NC (where this item was found) and his wife is from Wrightsville Beach, NC, where our family has spent many hot summer days.
PLEASE NOTE: There is some very minor rippling/bubbles in the paper, in the upper right, no staining.
