Up for sale speed/azimuth calibration cassette for old cassette recorders and players. 99.9% of old players are suffering from playback/recording at a wrong speed or head azimuth goes off after all those years. For speed adjustment you need is our tape side B and multimeter with frequency counter option hooked up to line or speaker output on either channel. Just adjust the speed adjustment pot to set the frequency as close to 3000 Hz as possible (pictured). You can use phone frequency counter app as well. Since the cassette is recorded at 0 dB you can adjust other playback parameters (playback level etc.) if needed. For azimuth adjustment you need is our tape side A recorded 8000 Hz at -20 dB and scope to adjust azimuth by Lissajous waveform. As pictured it should be as flat as possible (1st picture) but not oval (2nd picture). I believe there might be other simpler methods of doing this. Since the cassette is recorded at -20 dB you can adjust other playback parameters (playback level etc.) if needed. We use recently serviced top of the line 1979 quartz lock direct drive closed loop dual capstan Pioneer CT-F1250 and 1986 Pioneer CT-A9 cassette decks. Speed signal would be recorded on side B while azimuth signal would be on side A. Cassette brand and playback time varies, recently TDK, Maxell UR60/90 etc. For better performance all cassettes are demagnetized prior to recording. Cassette clear cases might have cracks or other imperfections due to age.
Included - used cassette with freshly recorded 3000 Hz test signal recorded at 0 dB level and 8000 Hz test signal recorded at -20 dB for the duration of 10 minutes on both sides. None of the test equipment pictured (Pioneer decks, Oscilloscope, Fluke meter or cables) is included for sale, only one audio cassette of random brand/playback time type 1 (Normal) only.
Please make sure that cassette mechanism was serviced and heads demagnetized prior to inserting the test cassette! This would extend test tape life.
