Stunning Pair of Vintage Chinese Latticework Panels with Painted Scences
Beautiful vintage Chinese panels with crackled antique painted finish, and inset painted panels. A horizontal panel tops a tall vertical section of latticework, which sits on a base of two painted scenes. These look like they were part of a larger wall divider - the two small projecting pieces on the top look as if they connected into another piece. These were in storage with some other wonderful Asian pieces, as well as some Canton porcelain, that we will also be listing. Made during the early to mid part of the 20th Century.
The painted finish is a greenish-grey, and is heavily alligatored. The painted scenes have a larger series of cracks, but are stable, and appear to have been varnished over. Not sure how old, so we are calling them "vintage". There is some old worm damage visible on the back, but of course not a problem now.
Measurements: 63" tall, 29.5" wide & 1.5" deep. The top of the painted panels at the base are 18" high when measured from the floor.
