Description
A pair of Guillemin French mantle sculptures post lamps now statues. 19"inches Tall & 17"inches Tall.Exquisite work by French sculptor Guillemin (1841-1907) in the spirit of the Belle Époque is a 19th century Spelter Statue of the FEE DE BOIS. Cast in spelter and given a patinated finish, it rests on a stained wooden base and depicts astonishing detail and realism. Émile Coriolan Hippolyte Guillemin studied under his father, the painter Auguste Guillemin and under Jean-Jules Salmson. He showed work at the Salon of Paris from 1870 to 1899 and in 1897 received an honorable mention there, circa 1890s.
