Marantz PMD430 Tape Recorder, Recently Serviced by Superscope Technologies

Up for sale is my Marantz PMD430 tape recorder, serviced by Superscope Technologies in June, 2021. The main board was replaced, as well as any part that needed to be refurbished- because of this, it is in great cosmetic condition and only shows signs of light wear. The tech over at Superscope also let me know that they are discontinuing their tape recorder repair services, so recorders with this level of repair will be harder to come by.
The unit powers on, both by batteries and the Marantz adapter that I have for it. Also included is a Superscope strap that snaps on to the unit perfectly, and its original carrying case that is in excellent shape. The record function was also confirmed to operate via the RCA inputs. Headphone output, the built in speaker, and the RCA output all work as they should. FF/RW are very fast and smooth. It sounds fantastic.
However, I have encountered some difficulties with playback- I could get some tapes to play with no issue, but longer tapes especially (anything over 60 minutes probably) struggle to wind up at the right speed. Because of this, I am adding that if you buy this recorder, you acknowledge that it may not be in perfect/ideal working order, and there may be other issues I haven’t encountered in testing. Adding on to that, this also means there are NO refunds or returns, as I can’t promise a fully working unit.
This is a beautiful unit however, and I hope it can go to a good home!
