FRENCH  MODERNIST PLANT  HOLDER MATEGOT
French modernist Plant  holder made in the 1950's  , by Mathieu Mategot , it is made with  his trademark
bent metal with  whimsical  effect .He designed furniture and object for a short time , in 1960 he went back to painting and
tapestry work .
He was with Prouvé, Perriand, Royère, Adnet, and the ceramist Georges Jouve in development of various projects, one of the most renowned French designers of this time.  This piece is made with his trademark bent metal in the Cap D'Ail design .Some of the pieces are featured in the book from the Jousse gallery .Mategot produced a lot of different piece while experimenting new form in his factory .This piece can just stand on its own like an art piece or transformed in a lamp.
Size  H.40 x l.26 ( top ) , good antique condition ,there is some scratches from normal use , if you are only looking for  nice pieces  with history it will be perfect for you.
