Description
With an arched bonnet above the glazed panel and painted dial with a hunting scene and date ring above the body lacking weights, above the stepped plinth ending on bracket feet. 68-3/4 x 9-3/4 x 7-1/2 in.Property from the Estate of Mary S. B. Braga, Oakendale Farm, Middleburg, VA
On the back of the clock, as shown in one of the photos, there is an aged sticker: Walter H. Rick, Clockmaker, 666 Mad. Ave, N. Y. C. From the sticker, one might assume Mr. Rick serviced the clock. Mr. Rick rejoined his father's business in New York City after
World War II, restoring and maintaining renowned clock collections in the Northeast. He worked for Tiffany & Co.'s clock division before opening his own watch and clock restoration business at East 57th Street in New York.
He was a member of the National Association of Watch & Clock Collectors for 57 years, and a member of the British Horological Society. He studied art at the French Art Institute during the late 1930s.
Condition:
The photos show what is easily viewable. There is a key to the cabinet. The key hole has some damage as shown in the photo. There is a second key to wind the clock. Smiths Enfield is the name on that key.
There is a crack-line in the front of the cabinet, on the lower section.
The clock is lacking the weights. The clock does not work, but would make a lovely hallway display
. To be in working order, it would require an expert clock restoration.
