New for 2014, the Bauer Reactor 6000 Chest & Arms is built using many of the great features that you've come to expect from the Bauer Reactor line, while also incorporating a few popular custom specs that goalies have built into their custom units over the last few years.  The end result is a unit that the goalie can feel confident will hold up to any shot, while allowing him or her to move around the net with ease.
The shoulder floaters have a traditional, squared off design that completely covers the shoulder joint.  Underneath this main floater sit three additional shoulder caps - a rounded plastic upper cap that sits directly under the main floater, a longer, rounded secondary floater that also helps cover the armpit area, and a thinner third foam flap that also helps provide additional coverage to the bicep area.  A Max-Sorb and HD Foam sternum protector sits against the chest and directly beneath the shoulder floaters, and this pad spans the entire width of the chest to give considerable protection to this sensitve area.
Belly protection is made up of traditional, segmented HD foam blocks, and this belly protection has an open seam that runs up the middle of the unit.  This seam is covered by two separate HD foam flaps, which are also segmented.  The seam in the main belly pad allows the goalie to easily bend forward in his/her stance, and the additional pads provide coverage as the main pad expands to accomodate this bending motion.  Like most Bauer chest guards in recent years, the Reactor 6000 uses the Adjustable Belly System (ABS) - additional belly pads that can be attached to the bottom of the unit to extend belly coverage by up to three inches.
The arm protection on the Reactor 6000 is substantial.  Both the bicep and the forearm padding is made of thick HD and LD foams, and this padding is thicker than the padding found on most other units on the market today.   Spring mesh covers the entire arm unit to both reduce weight and help the arm protection stretch somewhat.  A two-piece, tried and true arm floater provides substantial protection, and a molded elbow cap keeps the entire elbow joint safe and well protected.
The back of the unit provides protection to the spine and lower back.  Two belly pad tabs sit at the top of the spine protector, and by adjusting the position of the tabs on this spine pad, the goalie can either raise or lower the fit of the entire unit on the belly and shoulders.
