Gorgeous Mint Condition Antique Turn Of The Century Large French Thick Wool Tapestry. Machine made and weighted on the underside so it hangs beautifully. Half moon shaped brass hooks sewn in on the top of the tapestry for optimal hanging. Purchased at Pearson’s Antiques and Imports in Scottsdale AZ in 2000 and comes with a paperwork receipt describing the piece.
The scene depicts three beautiful women dressed in flowing gowns engaged in conversation in a meadow under a tree with two cherubs hovering above with rabbits at their feet. The tapestry is adorned with flowers and scrolling as the boarder. The color are many with muted apricot, rose, lavender,pink, pale blue, sand, khaki, a hint of grey, celery and olive.
It measures approximately 4.5 w X 6.5 H
The antique Tapestry is in gorgeous condition for its age. No pulls or tattering.
It is made from wool and is very thickly woven giving it a multi dimensional look when viewed from both the sides and front. The touch of the wool is soft.
Photos have mostly been taken with natural light and indoors where the tapestry is displayed on a wall for optimal keeping. This should give you an addtional idea of the actual colors.
The tapestry can be wrapped in cardboard and shipped in a cardboard tube.
